Welcome Racers and Car Lovers of all ages...
RacrEye Overview
RacrEye is the ultimate in a low cost car data acquisition system - for club racing or a track day event.
It features video, audio, GPS, and OBDII for ‘plug and play’. Use it to improve your driving skills, as a
teaching aid in a driver’s school, to make sure your car is running its best, or just to impress your
friends.
RacrEye is a piece of racing electronics that puts data into your videos. It goes between your video camera
and your video recorder, and puts car data on the bottom of your screen (
BASIC
system shown above), and
a little bit at the top (
ADVANCED
system, not shown). Thus, your videos are forever enhanced with car
data locked to your racing.

Racers want it all!
First off, you want video in your race car. Without video you can't tell if that fast lap was due to your own skillful driving, or that
you were drafting some out-of-our class dude. Video makes a great teaching aid, and it's also great for impressing your friends.
Next you need data. How fast was I going? What were my corner exit speeds? Where did I brake? Did I
over rev the engine? Am I leaving some time on the track? And you need the data right there on the
video. No syncronization problems and it's easy to use - no tricky graphs to align and read.
You can do your data analysis sitting on the couch with a remote in one hand and a favorite beverage in the other.
Finally, we need audio for that zoom-zoom. It's also handy for driver's comments (family discretion advised) and for telling if you missed a shift!

So, how does it work?
The BASIC system consists of three parts - video camera, RacrEye video processor DAV-100,
and a recorder.
The system is
GPS based
and can work with the usual car sensors, or with the optional
OBDII module for "plug and play".
The latter is for
Track Day
and Showroom Stock guys that don't want to connect to their vehicle sensors (or aren't allowed
to by the rules).
This basic system gives video, stero audio (mic is built-in, second mic is optional), and the following data:
- Accelerometers, built-in, provide both an analog display in the form of a traction (G_G) circle, and two digital read-outs in G's.
- Speed display, MPH, from GPS, OBDII or optional speed sensor. Analog and digital display.
- Tachometer, RPM, from vehicle sensor or OBDII. Analog and digital display.
- Throttle posistion from vehicle sensor or OBDII. Analog display.
- Lap times from GPS or optional IR system. Digital display.
- Track Map, from GPS, showing your position on the track.
- Running time clock, sync'd to GPS so you can get section times or coordinate with others.
(More details on the BASIC RacrEye System)
The basic system works GREAT! for improving driver skills and to impress your friends. For those looking
for traditional data acquisition capability to record and store vehicle parameters, we have our ADVANCED system. To the BASIC system it adds
two components, the Expansion Module EM-101, and the Vehicle Monitor VM-1.
The Expansion Module EM-101 unit adds 16 channels of analog data so that you can record
16 channels of whatever you want. For example, you can record and display your EGT's, oil temperature and pressure, water
temperature, battery voltage, wideband oxygen sensor, and still have channels LEFT OVER for whatever else you want. Recording
time is almost unlimited because the data is saved to an SD card!
You'll find our Vehicle Monitor VM-1 to be the handiest thing in your cockpit! While you're concentrating on your driving,
it is keeping watch on your car. Should anything you're monitoring exceed its programmable limit, it flashes a warning and
alerts you to what is wrong, perhaps saving an engine. And while everything is running A-OK, it functions as a sequential shift light,
and displays lap times. Don't waste your time looking at the gauges, concentrate on making
that pass! (A glance at the flag stations now and then won't hurt either).

RacrEye is affordable...
RacrEye is designed to be affordable and modular. You can start with a BASIC system and upgrade later when your needs
and wallet dictate. You can buy just the RacrEye component you need, or a package. For example, if you
already have a
video camera
or camcorder (that outputs a composite analog
NTSC signal), and a recorder (that accepts NTSC analog video),
you can buy just the DAV-100 and you'll have a fully functional BASIC system. Or, you can buy a
BASIC package and know that all the
components have been verified to work well with each other in a racing environment.
When you're ready to add sensors to your engine and chassis, you can add the
UPGRAGE package and
sensors. Of
course, if you are ready for the full system now, you can start with the
ADVANCED package.
